Farytale Gone Bad: Prologue
[3rd Person]
‘People never notice this road, much less walk down here…’ The tan-skinned girl thought, looking up from her small bouquet.
She watched the man in the expensive black suit walk, very casually, closer to her house.
She dropped all of her flowers and grabbed her binoculars that hung loosely around her neck.
From her perch on the lawn, Isabella could’ve seen anything.
She zoomed into the man and saw a flash of brown on the back of his hand.
She knew exactly what it was.
It was a quadruple Ouroboros. Four snakes eating each other’s tails.
Her chocolate-brown eyes widened. She dropped her binoculars on the green grass and ran to her cat.
“Gilbert! Um… U-uh… Qui…” She paused. How could she forget at a time like this?! “Man-man-manducat… cla-cauda.”
Gilbert, her snow-white feline, looked up from the water hose he was trying to capture in complete shock.
“Qui Manducat Caudia!” The girl yelled louder
Gilbert nodded and swiftly ran to the house.
Isabella followed suit but stopped mid-way.
Wind tussled her hair as she looked back at the stranger.
He was already halfway to her house
She tucked her black hair behind her ear and ran, catching up to her cat.
***
Isabella burst through the door “Bruder! Fratello! Ani!”
Her Gramama came through the kitchen door.
“Ah~! Fiorellino~! Your Fratello left! Mi dispiace... Perché? Why do you need him?” The old woman wiped her hands on her apron.
“Gramama! They’re here! It’s here!” Isabella panicked, picking Gilbert up from the floor and drawing him close to her.
Gramama dropped the apron she had just untied from her waist
“Fiorellino! Hide now!” Her Gramama yelled
“Stai Zitto! I’m not leaving without you, Gramama, and Fratello!” Isabella yelled, tears threatening to fall, as she held Gilbert closer.
She never thought this would happen.
“No-No, Fiorellino! Mi dispiace tanto...” Her Gramama muttered
She knelt down and put a hand on Isabella’s tear stained cheeks “We’ll a-find you, okay? After-a all of this we’ll a-find you! Mi dispiace, Fiorellino”
Isabella slowly nodded and held her hand out “Pinky swear?” She muttered as she stuck out her pinky.
“Mi Fiorellino! Aren’t you-“ Her Gramama started but she changed her mind “Sí! Pinky swear!”
They both intertwined each other’s pinkies together.
“Gramama... Be safe” She, Isabella, muttered as she dashed away.
Gilbert, who was still in her embrace, looked at the panicked girl. He was the only one that actually heard what Isabella said, the look of worry was apparent in his gleaming red eyes.
Only one thought surged in each other’s brains.
Protect each other, no matter what and at any cost.
